[Public-List] Cockpit Drain Seacocks

Hello again friends -

It just occurred to me that when responding to the statement below I  
was talking to sailors who haul for the winter as well as those who  
stay afloat.    My advice was made with the yacht being ashore in  
mind.  What I worry about in particular is water resting in dips in  
the deck scupper hoses (SURPRISE is an apres 400 boat fitted with  
through deck drains rather than having pierced toe rails for scuppers).

'Spring' continues here on Georgian Bay... I certainly could have left  
the boat in.  On the other hand I was this year able to have the  
luxury of tarping up and winterizing SURPRISE in pleasant weather.   
Normally I wait for a horrible day with howling, freezing wind tearing  
at the tarp and numbing my fingers, all bringing to mind the final  
scenes of the film 'Scott of the Antarctic'.   Well I was spared that  
this year.
