Rick,

Through bolting the bearing housing sounds like a smart move. Is the
area inside the boat flat enough to support a backing? It looks like
the deadwood is 2.5 inches (or more) thick there, think additional
backing is necessary? I'm concerned the two bolt holes, when drilled
will come out at a steeply angled surface.  I'm still dealing with the
gunk removal. Tough with the engine in place.
