[Public-List] diesel tank cleaners

Hi Roger,

I would suggest using a cheap brass hand pump ( you know those Chinese made
ones found at boat stores - they will do oil )- not sure I'd want to use a
shop vac.

I have a WB 4-107 on Sunstone A-37, so I have some experience with diesels.

Rinse the tank with a gallon or so of diesel when done emptying it and pump
that out too. Take the junk fuel to the recycling centre for proper
disposal.

Empty and rinse the filter and put it back on.

Empty and rise the separator bowl and put that back on.

Suggest when you are done, use Bio Bore mixed in the new diesel fuel, (less
than a 1/4 oz to kill off any residual algae growing in the system). I
regularly add a maintenance amount with each fill. It's expensive, but you
use so very little of it, it will last nearly forever.

Run the engine for about 2 hours, shut it down and re-clean the
sediment/separator bowl and change the fuel filter for a new one.

At seasons end I always change the engine oil and filter, but wait until
after launch in the Spring to change the fuel filter after doing the two
hour run method - that polishes the fuel and leaves the gunk in the old
filter.

You should be good to go.

Hope this is helpful

Best

John
