Subject: [Public-List] rolling & dismasting

There is an interesting story on the Sailing Anarchy front page today about
lessons learned from a recent dismasting during a transatlantic delivery of
a Class 40. There is a link to a USCG Infrared video (filmed from the air)
of the 3 crew being rescued by a merchant ship in heavy seas about 600 nm
northeast of Bermuda. The delivery skipper's comment afterwards was that
apparently the ship rescue was the most dangerous point in the whole ordeal.
The video is impressive (keep in mind it was filmed in a gale, at night,
from an airplane):

Given the conversation about rolling and dismasting, I thought it was
germane to the topic.

Ciao,
