Folks,
The simple fact that Whitby went on to change out the original design from
a laminate beam to an aluminium I-Beam suggests to me that repairing the
old design is a waste of time. Taking advantage of the sistering repair is
smart and responsible seamanship.
I have watched Infinity's Beam flex a foot or more in 30 knot winds in big
chop. Once I saw that I was convinced that the upgrade was necessary. Take
it from those of us who have raced these boats in the toughest of
conditions -
Mike Lehman,
Larry Morris,
and myself - do the upgrade and ensure that your boat will be in the best
of possible condition to handle what A30s are really made for.
