[Public-List] Cutlass Bearing Flange Alberg 30

Good morning Peter -

Mine were machine screws driven into the fibre glass. I considered filling
the holes with epoxy then drilling and tapping new threads, but the old ones
looked perfect so just used them again.

Which reminds me - a while back Woodenboat Magazine did a test where they
drilled and tapped machine screws into hardwood and compared the strength
with regular wood screws... In hardwood the machine screws were just as
secure.

Had a very satisfying heavy air race last night... A good clean fight around
a traditional Olympic triangle (twice around then up and down, my
favourite). Were neck and neck with an arch-rival, the whole time finally
crossing the line first in our fleet and ahead of the foe by 15 seconds.
Corrected time made this not quite enough to nip them but what the heck - we
both got something to take home. Reefed and shook out reefs the main
flawlessly; broke the boom vang then repaired it on the go hardly skipping a
beat. Never used the chute... But since we were pushing a wall of water
ahead of us at over 7 knots on occasion and couldn't have gone an erg faster
we didn't miss it. Very satisfying.
