[Public-List] More maintenance questions - topping lift

My boat #229 is a 1967 with the original mast head.  Today, while sitting in 
teh yard, the topping lift broke (interesting sound when you are inside the 
boat).  I have a bridle that holds the boom up so it didn't hit the deck.

My topping lift is 3/16".  Is that normal?  It seems awful thin from a chafe 
stand point.  How hard will it be for me to re-reave a new line while 
hanging from the top of the mast?
