[Public-List] Another maintenance question - interior paint

I am thinking of re-painting the interior fiberglass surfaces in the cabin of my early-style boat.  It looks like it has been re-painted at least once in the past.  My questions are:
1. How can I tell if the old paint is oil-based or latex?
2. Can I use a latex paint to re-paint?  I was thinking of a mildew-resistant bath room paint?
