There are also some very good hybrid blends out there, silicone alkyd
enamels, etc, that have been formulated for the marine environment that do
very well and have fewer issues with cracking and peeling.
An excellent paint for the marine environment is Sherwin Williams Vinylsaf,
available in many colors and blends. It retails for about $50/gal. It's
probably special order at your local hardware store but can be picked up at
professional painters supply centers. Water based, it is very tenacious on
wood, concrete, fibreglas, steel and aluminum. Two coats recommended, four
hours recoat time.
