The cement grabs instantly. I'm using the DAP non-water base cement for laminate in the galley. Seems to hold well but it's only been a couple of months.
1. Wax paper between the surfaces works well. Google laminate counter DIY.
2. Get a good J Roller.
3. Lots of ventilation as it is nasty stuff.
4. Use a timer. A consistent process gives consistent results...
5. Use a paint roller to apply.

P.S. It seems like I get the best results when cement is just past the wet stage.
