The only part I could see adding any strength is the right-angled
section which forms the shelves outboard of the settees (and continues
back th the cockpit lockers, though I don't think they go forward of the
bulkhead seperating the head and hanging locker from the saloon). That
said, I've removed portions of those sections on Candy Cane and had no
apparent loss of structural integrity.
