I have used folks like "Fast Signs". These people have hundreds of fonts to choose from and CAD programs to achieve exactly what you want.  If and when the vinyl wears out they have the file to produce a new a replacement for you to stick on your boat.

I need to put a name on the sweet little transom on good old 148.  Is it 
better to have it painted on (if so, can anyone recommend someone in the 
Annapolis area) or should I have a decal made (also, any recommendations)?
