[Public-List] battery boxes

Jim,

The corrosion on the aluminum parts in the Whale Gusher in normal. I have
re-build several and make new replacement parts out of G10 fiberglass (the
stuff circuit boards are made of). The parts that go first are the pieces
that the flappers are attached to.

Fellow Albergers

I had 2 group 29 batteries that wouldn't allowbattery boxes. So, I
fabricated one box out of fiberglass to hold both batteries. I soon
learned that leaking acid weakend the box. I know that there is
always some acid in the bottom of the battery boxes so if I were to
eliminate the boxes the acid would end up in the bilge. I also noted
some deterioration of the aluminim on my Whale Gusher bilge Pump.

the solution for me was to go back to group 27 batteries with boxes
that were altered. I cut off 2/3 of the box bottoms and cut away part
of the covers so they fit. I also cut away a little of the liner above
the boxes to allow my had to reach in and close to the engine water
seacock.
