Reefing the foresail is quite useful... But not using the furler of course.
Some cruising headsails have reef points to raise the clew and reduce area -
it's not a bad way to make a sail more versitile. And of course setting a
smaller headsail is the same effect as reefing...
Now one thing people argue about is whether tying in a reef to a headsail is
easier than just changing the sail.... I think it's easier changing....
