On the Great Lakes, VC 17 is the way to go. No need for annual recoats as
the paint does not oxidize out of the water. Just touch up any wear spots
and apply a new coat every 4-5 years. Virtually no buildup. The Copper
content is only 17%, it is the Teflon in it that makes it work so well.
Paint is useless in saltwater, not sure how well it would work in the
brackish waters of the Northern Chesapeake, but I suspect, not that well.
Anyway, if you are on the Great Lakes and not planning to cruise south, it
is the preferred paint of choice.
