Great idea Roger.
I have seen kits that come with tanks where the backing material comes in
two halves so that they can be placed in the tank through the cut out and
clamped & glued to the inside.  Once the epoxy or whatever kicks off you can
drill and even tap threads in the backing... The result should be a set up
where you can put useful torque on the screws.
