I don't mind the tacking! 

Generally 15kts is about where I reduce sail  when singlehanding.

Practically it's easier and safer to reef the main than to change a
headsail once you are out there.  So starting out I often go for the
conservative Working Jib if it looks like it will be windy and rough,
then figure out the main reef later. If I am already sailing with all
sail and the wind pipes up, I will reef the main first for the same
reasons.

It's too bad the forward hatch is so close to the mast or you could rig
a
self tacking traveler; guess a boom would be needed as well so, "never
mind."  Others on the page have said A30's need to be reefed from aft,
forward so, do you also reef the main above 15?
