Richard,
Perhaps you should contact George Mathis @ georage at hotmail.com . George had a new but old stock RDS aluminum tank for sale. Dimensions were 34" L by 15" H by 8.75 W at top and 5.75" W at bottom. This would be something less than 18 gallons. I checked with RDS and they now offer an aluminum 20 gal wedge tank #59166 with dimensions 361/2" L x 19" H x 8" top and 6" bottom. Mfg. to order $375.62 F.O.B. I passed on purchasing Georges tank because I decided against installing a metal tank. If George still has his available he was asking $250.00 plus shipping. The duty to Canada would be less because the tank could be considered used.
I will keep you posted on my progress with Moeller and Defender.
Michael

The diesel return line looks to be fine, but unfortunately I can't
accommodate a 39" tank. Maybe I'll talk to Moeller and see if it would cost
an arm and a leg to get a 36" one. Unless you want to, as the other liner
boat "guys" will run into the same problem. It really doesn't matter if
it's a bit smaller than 18 gallons.

Richard,
This week I plan to fit in place my mock up of the tank for the non-liner
boats to see if the 39" length is a problem. Is it possible to mount the
tank inboard further in the liner boats to miss the scupper drain line? When
you checked the Moeller site was their arrangement for the Diesel return
line adequate?

Measuring space this afternoon, I see a 39" long tank will not do, on a
liner boat anyway. The scupper pipe is 35.5" from the galley bulk head and
will not be easy to move. Any other ideas will be appreciated. I'll go back
to the Moeller Marine site, and others and check again. Disappointing.
Maybe there's more available length on a non liner boat Mike?
Would love to hear back from whom ever installed one on a liner boat on the
"ledge". I think the dimensions are different.
Thanks, all.

Greetings,
Those owners who are interested in the group order who have diesel engines
please visit moellermarine.com and review the return line connection that
moeller offers for their tanks. This can be observed under permanent tanks
then fuel sender and gauges part number 035724-10. It looks like the return
line fitting is integral with the electronic sender unit. The return line
will be some distance from the draw fitting, but not at the opposite end of
the tank.
Convince your self that this will work for you and let me know if you are in
for the group order. I will be contacting Moeller to see what actually comes
with each tank and if there will be a separate charge for any sender units.
All owners should visit m oellermarine.com to determine which sender unit
they would like on their tank. Also review the selection of tanks under
permanent tanks and E-mail me the tank part number they wish to purchase.
I plan to place this order within the next three weeks. So consider your
needs and get on board if you would like to participate.
More will be forthcoming on the payment proceedures. Shipping costs will be
specific to each individual address.
