[Public-List] Boat Names - British Registry for Canadian Ships

British Registry for Canadian Ships is the proper title. Her Majesty the
Queen owns 36 shares in Registered vessels. Title searches are much easier
as opposed to licensed vessels. Entering foreign ports is made easier. The
data base is accessible via the internet through Transport Canada's Vessel
Registry Query System. The ship's name is specific and no other ship may be
registered with the same name in the country, hence often a name with II;
III; IV etc.

It is the same registry as for big ships in this country.

Look up Sunstone, there is only one registered in Canada. You will find us
there.

The old registry docs had wonderful language, which has since been
modernized and sadly is no longer used: "The vessel registered to have 36
shares owned by Her Majesty the Queen, in Right of Canada, together with her
boats; men at arms; guns and appurtenances. The Registered owner (s) shall
have 64 shares ...."

Sadly, though allowed under the 1815 Rush Baggot Treaty, we do not carry the
single 18 Lb Long cannon.

Too much weight when racing and the shot tends to get loose from the monkey
and roll around the deck ; )

ATB

John (The vessel can be pressed into service during times of war if
required - ala Dunkirk)
