She may be pretty, but read the fine print: she's wooden. No one except a
masochist should ever TOUCH a WOOD boat. One of my earliest memories is
standing in the boatyard alongside my father on freezing March days in Long
Island, handing him yarns of tarred oakum which he hammered into the
seams with a caulking iron. He always complained that every relative in
town wanted boat rides in the summer but nobody was ever around in the
spring. If God wanted you to have a wooden boat he wouldn't have invented
tubeworms & fiberglass.
