Hello all,

Anybody want to sail single handed to Hawaii this summer?

I spoke to the SHTP race committee chair in San Francisco a week ago and learned the race committee would sponsor an Alberg 30 class Cup if three or more A-30's entered the race. Actually we only need two additional Albergers as there is already one signed up ( me). I know there are a couple of Albergers on the West Coast that have expressed interest in the race from time to time... If anybody interested in participating this year, there is still time to sign up.

FYI, there are about 6 boats from the PNW who will be headed down the coast this spring to participate - no Albergs, except Dolce at the moment, but an imposing flotilla nevertheless...

Here are the web sites with the basic sailing instructions and information:

The race kicks off June 30th and covers a rhumb line distance of 2120 nautical miles SF to Hanalei Bay, Kauai. Basically lots of beam reaching on the Stbd tack, with some trade wind runs thrown in down past the middle latitudes . The race leaves 2 weeks late this year so has incurred lots of talk about the Pacific High and warm, light wind days....

It would be great fun to go over in a class. Any takers say 'Aye'!

Cheers,
