Hello all,

Two owners have come up with a new, never used, rudder shoe which can be used as a pattern to make a mold for casting new parts. Does anyone have a new, never used, center hinge (gudgeon/pintle) for the Alberg 30 rudder? This could be the one or two piece gudgeon, either would work but the two piece is easier to install with the rudder in place on the boat.

What ever happened to the fellow who worked in the Fine Art foundry in CA who wished to mfg. replacement parts for our boats? Lost wax/ceramic shell bronze casting is relatively straight forward, we just need to determine the correct bronze alloy.

I am in need of a gudgeon only as mine is broken thru the fastening hole. After looking on the Alberg Maintenance site I discovered that some had been originally fabricated from strap and bushings and were not castings. I suppose that might be the easier route to follow. I don't have mine apart yet so I don't know which type I have. Who wrote that article, Alberg Maintenance /Rudders, and do they still have that two part gudgeon we could use to make a mold?
