Hello friends - 

Further to Mowat... He is indeed alive and kicking; and still writing.  One
of his more recent books is 'Bay of Dreams', an autobiographical account of
the real events in his life surrounding the five or so years that the events
in 'Boat Who Wouldn't Float' actually took place during.  Lovely book.

A little earlier he published 'My Father's Son' which is in the format of
the letters he exchanged with his father during his service as a platoon
leader in WW2.  Just as 'Bay of Dreams' is the background to 'Wouldn't
Float', 'My Father's Son' is good reading after 'And No Birds Sang'.  The
later was published some time ago and is a fairly searing description of
Mowat's experiences in action as an infantry officer.  It starts out quite
funny like 'Wouldn't Float', but changes....

So, no grave yet! Let's hope he keeps roaring along as he has....
