[Public-List] Topping lifts

My 1967 pre-liner boat has a topping lift that attaches to the end of the
boom, goes up over a hanging block at the top of the mast, then comes back
down to a cleat at the base of the mast. This means one needs to be
standing at the mast to adjust it. I was thinking of changing the boom end
so that there is a block on the end of the line coming down from the top of
the mast, with a line from the end of the boom up over the block, and back
down to a cleat on the end of the boom. This would give me some mechanical
advantage, allow me to adjust the boom from the cockpit, and is a common set
up on other boats. Has anyone else used this set up? Anything to look out
for? Thanks!
