We are now tied up at Port Royal Landing Marina and will be here till
Tuesday AM. They have a "pay two stay three plan" and with the weather we
are taking advantage of it.

Since leaving Georgetown we moved to a creek just above Charleston where we
planned to spend the night before crossing Charleston harbor. There is a
bridge that we had to go through and because of shoaling we had to do it
near high tide which was in the morning. The next morning the wind was too
high for the bridge to open so we spent the day at anchor. The creek was
bordered by nothing but marsh grass for several miles in every direction so
at high tide we could see civilization but not get there. Just a day of
reading and relaxing. The next day we crossed Charleston and through Fields
Cut and as far as the South Edisto River where we anchored about 300 yards
out in the river for the night. Then yesterday we moved to the Port
Royal/Beaufort area. After tying up we refueled and reprovisioned and had
to planned to spend today playing tourist. The weatherman hasn't been too
cooperative so we hope to sightsee tomorrow.

Port Royal Marina is one of the friendliest I have seen. The dock crew
professional, nice restrooms and easy to get to shopping. They also have a
courtesy car available. This is highly recommended and cheaper than the
Beaufort City Marina.

Just a side note This has been a cold trip and we have been using our
fireplace almost every day since leaving Norfolk. The first item on our
reprovisioning list was firewood. I don't know when the last time a sailing
vessel had firewood as its first priority for collecting supplies.
