[Public-List] Rudder Zinc

Clayton,

I have a 2" diameter zinc screwed onto the hull just in front of the rudder pinter and bonded to the Pintle with heavy gauge copper wire. also a zinc on the end of the prop shaft abaft the prop. Both zinc's get eaten up each year. Never had any corrison issues on the shoe, however my rudder shaft runs down to the pin in the shoe, so might be getting catholic protection from the Pintle zinc.

BTW my boat was over zincked when I first bought it. It had three zincs, the third was on the rudder. The overzincing was causing green corrosion buildup on the bronze castings So I took the one off the rudder and have been happy camper since.
