[Public-List] Bounty crew loses ship in Sandy

Reports are they werew close gulf stream. With a strong north wind the sea state in that area was probably much worse. Also read that the lost propulsion and ability to pump incoming water. Sad day. I hope all her crew finds their way home safely.

I guess they were using era-appropriate weather predicting technology.
I am not experienced, but it seems 40 MPH winds and 18 foot seas would be manageable.
