MIchael -
I'll tear down the raw water pump as well as the fresh and see whats going on. The wierd thing was that raw water flow looked good out of the exhaust (what I was used to before I had the plugged elbow). But all of the routine cooling system maintenance needs to be done in any event.

Sounds like the impellor on the seawater side has stripped. Excessive 
back pressure from the plugged elbow will do it.
The hard part could be chasing down the bits that work their way through 
the plumbing.
