I am good friends with the owner of Alberg #262. A few months ago he 
purchased 2 Yanmar 2GM20s that were completely rebuilt. It was a package 
deal. He is putting one of the engines in his Alberg and selling the other 
one. He is asking $2500 for the Yanmar (rebuild costs were more than $2000 
per engine). Both engines run great. You would need an instrument panel 
(about $300) and a wiring harness.

I can check with him to see if he still has the engine, if you are 
interested and put you in touch with him. The engines are in Maryland.

Thanks to all who have responded about repowering costs.  I have found what 
looks like a really nice 25' teak Laurent Giles Vertue stored in a farmers 
barn in England these last 16 years, which definitely needs a new motor. 
The old one is a 1960's gas engine and has not been started since it was 
hauled out and stored in 1996.  Am leaning towards a possible small 
universal diesel, although Westerebeke heavily markets noise dampening 
engineering on their small engines as a desirable characteristic.
