Port Townsend Foundry makes several stem head fitting in cast bronze that might work.  One style has anchor rollers cast on each side of the forestay tang.  

You may find sailing on the Bay in winter is better than summer. Warmer and less wind I am told  - sans the winter "rainy" season - i.e. January.  East Bay almost always warm and mild...  The Singlehanded Sailing Society runs single and double handed monthly races on the Bay year round. Might be something to look into.
