[Public-List] Newbee Looking for help with rudder parts

My boat is out of the water this winter and I am back in the US for a week or so at the moment.

So I could take my pintel and gudgeon over to Port townsend Foundary as patterns if anyone is interested in having an order made up. We might get a price break if we order several sets. Mine are worn and could stand to be renewed.

The other thing is, will an existing generic pintel and gudgeon set work? If so what exists out there as a generic replacement?

Thanks

The shoe at the bottom has a large bronze bolt that screws into the keel from the aft end and several small screws in the sides of the fitting. When replacing the bolts and screws be sure to use a good quality bronze not SS. Use a bedding compound on the fitting when installing them, some folks like 3M5200 (very strong adhesive) and some prefer 3M4200 (medium strength adhesive). If you get stuck...post to the list again.
