[Public-List] Sitka Spruce Boom

What is the advantage of a spruce boom over the aluminum one?  Other than being replaceable with local wood products just about anywhere?

I've been thinking of building a spruce boom.  I'll use the same cheek blocks and eye straps as are on the aluminium boom I've got.
