[Public-List] stern squat

I just looked at my boat, Brigadoon II, at my pier. With the water
tank forward empty for the winter, the mattresses and a lot (but not
all) of the other stuff off, including the genny, and the fuel tanks
full, with a 3-cylinder diesel in place of the Atomic 4, yes there is
some slight, maybe as much as twoinches, squat aft.
I tend to think with the genny mounted, the forward mattresses and
other stuff aboard and the water tank pressed full, there is somewhat
less squat. And that under way, the pressure on the mast offsets some of
that.
That being said, I do kind of remember sleeping up front, head
forward, and there being a very slight rise. But it never bothered me.
(I usually sleep in the saloon) But I have slept on deck in July because
it was cooler, though hardly more comfortable. I have slept on the floor
of the St. Louis airport, among other less-desirable places, some of
them while in the Army. I guess I am just less sensitive to the
conditions under which I sleep.
