Don't you love the military...always full of acronyms! Even on NCIS I had a 
hard time figuring out who "secnav" was until I figured out they were 
referring to "Secretary of the Navy".

CF = Canadian Forces.  It was once the name for our combined Army, Navy and 
Air Force.
