[Public-List] Selling Recommendations

Speaking as a proud new owner, I am very grateful that I have been able to
achieve my dream at a price my wife and I can afford. I realize that
someone has poured a lot of money and effort into the boat over the years,
and we could see that the price was far less than the sum of the parts, so
we did not quibble over it.
I am definitely a Chechako - having never sailed anything larger than an
enterprise dinghy. I am rather ignorant of many matters marine (although I
have been educating myself as fast as possible). That said, I did my best
to treat the prior owner with respect (and all boat owners), and I
understand that this past economic downturn has made selling a boat a very
painful proposition.
Every one of us is a buyer at some point. Boat owners are buyers of
supplies and hardware (lots of it apparently). Every one of us is ignorant
of some things - even things we would like to be good at. I deal a lot with
people who are apparently allergic to software, and I endeavour to treat
them with grace and understanding.
I do know what it is like to lose a fortune - I walked away from a house in
Trinidad long before the American housing bubble. I hope that you can enjoy
your boat until such time as someone else can afford to buy it and enjoy it
at a price you are comfortable with.
