I;ve just done the sole of my cockpit, a Rhodes Ranger, 28'6z" a mini Alberg. I put down a sheet of 5/8 inch plywood with 3M 5200, then put a layer of glass down and put some three inch fiberglass tape around the edge, half o the floor and half on the side of the cockpit which I ground down first. It is now as solid as a rock. A bit messy, but doable.
