Bill

Your problem is most likely fuel related. Remove the the sediment bowl any empty the fuel into a clear glass container and check for water and sediment. Clean the bowl and reinstall. Be sure to shut off the fuel before removing the bowl.

Thanks, I will go down to the marina again today and let her run for a longer period. The engine is less the 2 years old from Moyer and has about about 40 hrs of use. Gas tank is new, all new fuel lines and new Racor filter.

Could have been a bit of dirty fuel, or a shot of water that froze in the fuel system and reduced flow to the engine, or if an older gas engine, something to do with the ignition. Also a common and vexing problem in old boats is they eventually can develop a pin hole in the pickup tube in the fuel tank through galvanic corrosion , sometimes even the tube breaks completely off. In that case the pickup tube can't draw adequate fuel into the injectors or carb and so the engine runs slowly or quits. But will start up again when fuel sloughs around the tube. Usually it's easy to check the pickup tube, if you have an inspection plate on top of the tank. Something dragging on the prop also is a possibility.

I had been running in gear at the dock at about 1200 RPM's, I took it out of gear and gave it some more throttle to get it back to 1200. After a few moments the RPM's increased.
