Did the engine temp change? Did the Oil pressure go up ? - These would
be indications of resistance like on the prop or a bearing overheating
or the stuffing box being too tight.
Ethanol issue would have been addressed if your engine had been rebuilt
in the last 3 years. Many of the newer carb kits use the ethanol proof
silicone instead of rubber. (Honestly I am not sure what it is made of)
Check the fuel for debris - replace the fuel you have - siphon it out -
add 1- 2 gals of fresh fuel n try. Likely the main reason the the
performance hit. If you do not treat your fuel - you should, ethanol
does not last with out something like stabil added.
