[Public-List] Setback with Touch Wood

Surprise had four feet of snow on her - Dominic I am sorry I didn't check
your boat when I checked mine.   I won't be back up there till after the
19th when the show is over.   I think your tarp is plastic?  Maybe the snow
slid off.  My tarp is canvas, which I prefer for ventilation but the snow
tends to stick to it.

My wife and I knocked what we reckon are tons of snow and ice of Surprise's
tarp.  I had her mast laid across her as a ridge pole with scissored 2x4's
at the stern and laid on the pulpit forward.  The strut under the midships
of the mast  (a piece of oak I've used for years) broke under the weight and
the mast was bent down in the middle almost to the cabin top.  I thought for
sure it was finished.

Much to my surprise as the snow load was knocked off, it returned to
straight.  There's a new strut under it again.

Lucky, lucky.   Perhaps TW will be lucky too....
