Hi Gord and all;
     I know what you mean about love/dislike the dodger.  It sure was nice to not be chased below by the shower last October.  Instead we got to enjoy the moonlight and watch the beaver swimming bye.  And I was definately glad of it when I chose to beat my way home in the cold rain all the next afternoon.  But I don't like sailing behind a dodger the rest of the time.  It restricts visibility somewhat but worse (for me, anyway) is that it diminishes the enjoyment by blocking the view of the bow wave and the sound of the water rolling off the bow.  So my #1 priority for a dodger is that it can easily be folded down out of the way when not wanted.

I think it was Yves Gelinas with JEAN DU SUD who was advocating the
collapsible dodger - I think he describes it in some detail in his video of
his circumnavigation.

Dodgers.... Sometimes I'm glad I don't have one, sometimes, such as always
when doing our fall Misery Trips, I wish we did.

A couple of years ago a client in Maine offered me a brand new dodger for
$40.  I eagerly took it, but since I didn't have roof racks with me didn't
take the tubing.  I reckoned I could easily have the tubing made here.....
Well I quickly learned that it is very difficult to make tubing for an
existing dodger, and there's a lot more to the fitting than I thought.  So
the dodger is still rolled up in our garage and I think we'll go into
another fall this year without one.
