If your shaft is a 1" shaft - that is a 3/4" thread, then this item:

is probably what you want - I think you posted the size for 1 1/4" shaft - which you could very well have, but I know my shaft is 1".  

I usually just throw a digital micrometer onto the shaft to figure out what it is, as it can be hard to measure with a tape measure at all accurately.
