Couple of weeks ago several people expressed an interest in how I replaced my toe rails with wood bulwarks.

Yesterday I accidentally came up with a better way to measure the deck camber to fit the bottom of the bulwark to the curved portion of the deck.

I downloaded a free digital carpenter's level onto my iPhone! Discovered there are over 100 free level apps to choose from. I selected one that has a digital readout in radians and degrees- good to 1/10th of a degree. Simply lay the phone on the deck, it reports the correct deck angle to tenths. Huge improvement over the manual protractor I used. Much more precise.

BTY, I just used this app to fix my engine alignment. Was having on going troubles dialing the coupling and transmission flange in the last thousandths, so laid the phone on the engine and squared it a bit athawrtshups which took out the high centering on the right side, then on the shaft and observed it was12.7 degrees coming out of the hull. Finally laid the phone on the engine manifold and tranny case (same angle) which was 12.1degrees. So after cranking the front jack screws up three turns to 12.6, the coupling slipped on the flange with nary a sound. Two finger slip fit after weeks of ridiculous head banging!

Measured the clearance at less than 2 thousandths. Fantastic results for a simple little app.
