[Public-List] Another Spinnaker question

While we're on the subject of Spinnakers I have a question regarding the necessity of using a snatch block to guide the afterguy. I occasionally race Quest and when flying the spinnaker simply run the afterguy directly from the tack to the turning block on the stern quarter. It seems to work OK as long as the pole is properly secured with the downhaul. Is this a reasonable option or do most use a snatchblock on the genoa track.
