[Public-List] Dodgers

I bought Mike Lehman's old dodger. He has a sea hood and I do not. It works just fine keeping water out of the companionway. The forward edge lies on the slider when open.

For those that bravely made your own dodgers, how did you allow for the
hatch sliding? One canvas guy I talked to was planning in fabricating a bar
that goes over the hatch, and the canvas would attach to that bar. I was
thinking that the canvas attaching to the cabin roof on the sides of the
hatch would be enough to hold the whole thing down.

Thanks for the input on this, it's encouraging to know that while
difficult, it can be done. I figure that a pro can do this for $5k and it
will look great. If I can do this for $1000 in materials and my spare time,
I'd be willing to live with some imperfections. When I look at dodgers on
other peoples boats, everyone I look a t looks fine to me.
