Kris,
 You may recall that on Rinn Duin I cleat a pigtail block to one of the cleats on the foredeck for the downhaul. This gives a good angle when reaching when the loads are high.

On the topic of spinnakers, a few people mentioned using a downhaul when the guy and sheet are led directly to the quarters. Where do you typically rig the bottom end of the downhaul to?
