Good day friends - 

Doug Stephenson was the GM of Whitby Boatworks during the glory years.... He
retired to our town (Midland Ontario) and was a good friend to many of us
who sail boats the company built.   He passed away recently ­ our sailing
club is holding a gathering in his honour (see below).   An avid sailor
himself, he¹d sailed all over the world but hip problems put him ashore more
recently.  He used to park his car to watch our races Wednesday night, then
drive over to the club to have a beer with us aboard SURPRISE to discuss
what we should have and shouldn¹t have done during that evening¹s battle.
He was always welcome aboard.

He was a very nice fellow who had a thousand stories about the days when
Canada was one of the world¹s leading builder of production sailing yachts.
