Especially considering the widest point on the boat is ~8 feet off the ground and 6 feet above the widest point on the trailer.

When you're only talking a 1.5 inch overhang on each side of the trailer and that's only at the maximum width of the boat which is probably 10 feet above your point of reference on the trailer, I'm fairly sure that no one could "see" much less measure that overhang in the field without some specialized equipment.  I doubt that anyone could actually find the point of maximum width without some knowledge of the boat's geometry and a good reference to measure from.  I think the only way they would know is if they had previous knowledge that an Alberg 30 was 8'9" and could identify the boat as such.  I would think that it's a safe bet to haul without being stopped for width...

Though if you use an 8'6" wide trailer, all they need to do is measure the trailer, and see that the boat's wider.
