As I recall,  Waterloo's largest and certainly most impressive building was the  Math Building.

I remember back in grad school getting together with one of the
philosophy students and talking trash about the sciences as "cocky
upstart disciplines with less than half a millenium of history to them"
(as an expression of envy for their getting nicer offices while the math
and philosophy departments tended to be just squeezed in wherever).
