Just a thought...

We commonly supply stays and shrouds with the top end terminated with a
swaged eye... the bottom a couple of feet long and a swageless stud for the
turnbuckle.  The owner can then easily attach the top end (saving the cost
of the swageless fitting there) then cut the lower end to the right length
using the old stay as a pattern.  The swageless terminal can be fitted on
using a couple of wrenches.  I like them a lot.

On the fore stay, it is a good idea to have a toggle up at the top in
addition to the usual one at the bottom if the yacht is fitted with a
furler...
