Hello friends, 

We had a problem involving our head... The flush water intake sucked in a
very large quantity of weed while we were alongside a wharf where the water
was thick with the stuff.  The hoses in the head ended up packed with weed
so tight the appearance was like that of tobacco inside a cigarette...

After I that experience, I wondered what I'd do if SURPRISE's Atomic IV
sucked in weed despite the bronze screen on the outside.  I put a filter in
the intake line between the through hull and the engine's water pump.  We
were amazed at the accumulation of debris that began to collect, visible in
the clear cover...   I expect before the filter, most of it got right
through the engine, but it's better to stop it before it gets that far and
perhaps develop a blockage.

And what about the head?  Well once I figured out why we weren't getting any
flush water, it was easy to dig out the weed.  When re-assembling the
mechanism I managed to over tighten the screws and crack a plastic flange.
That took a long time to find.  All I knew was that toilet water was leaking
during flush pumping.  I couldn't find the leak because the crack closed
when the parts were taken apart and load on the flange relaxed.  So I had to
take the head apart and put it together again several times before I finally
discovered what was wrong, and I'd done to myself....
